"Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid."
LETTER OF THE WEEK: D
Five Little Ducks
Five little ducks went out one day,
over the hill and far away,
when Mama duck went,
"Quack! Quack! Quack!"
Four little ducks came waddling back.
(Continue song, but keep decreasing numbers. We also added hand motions!)
The girls loved this song. We would act it out too and have the girls pretend to go away and then I would be the sad Mama duck who had to go find her lost babies, and widdle-waddle, widdle- waddle all the way back home!
Do Not Let Your Hearts Be Troubled
"Do not let your hearts be troubled,
hearts be troubled, hearts be troubled.
Do not let your hearts be troubled,
and do not be afraid."
"For I am with you, each and every day,
I am with you each step along the way!"
This song has really stuck. I came up with a simple melody and added a little "B" section. Ju-Ju really likes it and has created some beautiful artwork based on this verse. The other day when Ju-Ju was nervous about her first dance recital, June Bug started singing this song to her big sister. Ju-Ju just started to smile. It was so incredibly touching. God's truth is beautiful, and simple enough to resonate even in the heart of an (almost) 3 year old. Awesome!
ART CONNECTION: Duck Swimming on a Pond
It has been really fun doing our project times outside. The girls colored the pond and duck, and then glued their duck to a craft stick. I cut out a pathway for the duck to "swim" in the shape of a lowercase 'd' to help the girls practice their early writing skills. (Notice Gabriella's frog shirt...she really got into this theme!)
CRAFTY CORNER: Dragonfly
SCIENCE CONNECTION: Duck Parts
While Daddy took June Bug to her very first dentist appointment, Ju-Ju, May Fly, Roo and I stayed home and made some delicious dragonfly treats. Ju-Ju and May Fly did a great job arranging the pretzels, spreading the melted chocolate, and shaking on the sprinkles. Roo was totally content just watching and eating the pretzels from the bowl. :-)
