Knowing that home schooling Ju - Ju might be a reality this fall, I opted to purchase a Toddler / Preschool curriculum to use as a basis of our weekly and monthly learning plans. This was a hard decision to make, because, as many of you may know, I absolutely LOVE curriculum planning and coming up with my own ideas and themes. As much as I love it, however, I cannot deny the immense amount of time it takes to plan, prepare and implement. As a first time "home-schooler" starting out with a fourth grader I just didn't want to wear myself out before we even really began. I decided having a set curriculum for Tot School that I could then tweak and add to if I so desired, would be the wisest route for our family, and for me. :-)
How God’s Little Explorers Christian Preschool Curriculum is structured:
1) Bible Adventure: This is the time to read the Bible story, sing any recommended songs, and do a related craft or project.
2) Theme Adventure: During this time, we’ll be exploring the theme with crafts, science projects, cooking projects, and so forth.
3) ABC & 123: This time will specifically introduce an alphabet letter. We’ll also be exploring colors, shapes, and numbers during the year. (We will be learning all our lowercase letters
first. They will also be presented out of order to best fit the weekly themes.)
4) Life Skills: Preparing a preschooler for life is much more than teaching them the ABCs! Each week, we’ll review various self-help skills, learn to complete chores correctly, practice manners, and do a service project. (Or, that is the goal at least...)
Stacie also list additional activities you can use to substitute for ones you might not like or have time to complete.
Book Bag: List of books to go along with the theme and suggested activities to be completed around the book.
Learning Bags: Stacie's version of busy bags. (I use these when the little ones need an independent activity to work on while I work with Ju- Ju, or when we are out and about and they need to be contained and quiet!) I’ll be sharing links to some you can create to have on-hand and use when desired.
