Next week we start our next theme, AN AFRICAN SAFARI!!! June Bug asked me a few weeks ago if we could learn about hippos. That is one aspect that I love about "schooling" the girls at home- I have the freedom to design our learning activities around their current interests and passions. She has been asking me often, "Mama- when are we going to learn about hippos? I really like hippos!" So...this one is for June Bug. It is her birthday month too, so it is only appropriate I suppose that she chose our next learning theme. This theme will take us into July, and then I will be taking the rest of the summer off to direct a local children's performing arts program, and then begin to gear up, prep and plan for the fall...
FALL ?!?! Where is this year going????
"He walks me to quiet waters. He restores my soul."
Pslam 23: 2-3
Thank you God for your peace and Your promise,
not that life would be easy always,
but that in the midst of it You will always be with us
and enable us to experience peace in our hearts
even when everything around us can seem so chaotic!

LETTER OF THE WEEK: W
MUSIC CONNECTION: Instrument Fun!
ART CONNECTION: Water Lily
SCIENCE CONNECTION: Planting Tomatoes
This didn't really have anything to do with our POND LIFE theme, but it was fun! We planted tomato plants from seeds back in March. We have been watering them diligently since then and they have grown to be quite the little seedlings. We decided, now that it is May and hopefully frosts are behind us, that we should transplant them into our garden. The girls were so excited to help dig the hole and carefully place the little plant into the earth. :-)
